1. Dance to the beat

March is Music in Our Schools Month. But why limit it to school? Check out these stories for at-home music fun:

And take the initiative by signing up your kids for classes at Music Together Tri-Cities or by visiting Adventures Underground to browse the records.

2. Cook together

Did you know March is National Nutrition Month? Make it fun for the whole family by including everyone in the kitchen.

Take a cooking class from Red Mountain Kitchen or grab some meal prep for your busy schedule from Dream Dinners Kennewick.

3. Read a book

March 2 is Read Across America Day, the perfect day to start that new book as a family. Visit one of our amazing libraries or Adventures Underground for some great family-friendly reading picks!

4. Spoil those tootsies

Yep, what you've heard is true: March 6-13 is Feet Week. There's really a week for everything these days, isn't there? Celebrate your hardworking tootsies (and maybe take an afternoon break for yourself!) by heading to your favorite nail salon for a pedicure. Your feet will thank you.

5. Plan a staycation

Whether for spring break or just a weekend day, plan a staycation right here at home and act like a tourist! Here's a fun one-day itinerary:

Stay at: Clover Island Inn or The Lodge at Columbia Point

Coffee from: Novel Coffee Co or Rockabilly Roasting Co

Breakfast from: Bougie Brunch or Sageport Grille

Activities: Spa services at A La Mode Spa and Salon, be a tourist and explore downtown (shopping, murals, etc), take a ride on the Carousel, recharge in nature with a hike at Badger Mountain or Chamna Natural Preserve.

Lunch from: Ara Sushi & Grill or The Hub

Dinner from: The Village Bistro or Proof Gastropub

6. Clean!

OK, maybe this isn't your idea of a good time but we love a good deep spring cleaning. Crank up your family's favorite tunes and give everyone a job to do. Or better yet, think about hiring a cleaning company to visit your home regularly ... it can be a sanity-saver for a busy family!

It's been a looooong winter but spring arrives in March! Not only that, but March 12 is National Plant a Flower Day! Get to Nico's on First Avenue or Wood's Nursery and buy yourself something green.

8. Eat that second piece of pie

March 14 is Pi Day! Make a pie (we love this paper bag apple pie) or get to Hot Mess Burgers and Fries for a hand pie.

9. Trap that leprechaun

Check out our list of 17 Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day With Kids then head out to Richland Dugout for some grown-up Saint Patrick's Day fun.
