Art YOUR Way invites children to explore the boundless world of creativity through captivating summer camps. With four exciting themes to choose from—Blooming Flowers and Glorious Plants, Exploring Japanese Culture, Magical Fairy Tales, and Inner Reflection—these camps offer a unique opportunity for children to unleash their imagination and artistic talent. Designed for kids aged 7 and above, Art YOUR Way camps promise an unforgettable summer of artistic exploration and growth.
Blooming Flowers and Glorious Plants (July 3-7)
In this fun-filled summer workshop, kids will learn about free-handing plants from real, still life plants! They will also learn how to “sketch” with their paint brush imaginary plants that they are growing in their own minds. They will be taught about the basic anatomy of plants and get to use acrylics to paint a different plant each day. A different book will be read aloud each day that will tell a story with the power to create images that inspire ideas about different flowers. On the last day, all of the kids will get to paint a flower pot and plant their own flowers while discussing different elements of art that they can see with the naked eye and explain to others.
Exploring Japanese Culture (July 17-21)
In this workshop, kids will learn about how to draw and paint/color their own anime character. They will also get the chance to draw and use watercolors to paint paper cranes and cherry blossom trees. Kids will learn about Japanese folktales and create their own folktale on paper. They will even get to paint their own paper lanterns to hang at home and explore how to design their own Japanese kimonos!
Magical Fairy Tales (July 31-August 4)
Who doesn’t love a good fairy tale? Kids will learn about the art of Tamara Laporte and discuss multiple fairy tales to go with her art. Some examples are: Little Red Riding Hood, Alice in Wonderland, Puff the Magic Dragon, Peter Pan, and Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
Inner Reflection (August 14-18)
Inspired by the “Create YOUR Life Book” by Tamara Laporte, these projects dive deeper and are great for kids who are getting ready to go back to school. These mixed media projects have been designed to expand creativity and encourage personal growth. Kids will create their own quirky birds, zen butterflies, self-portraits, and mixed media collages all while discussing deeper questions such as “what is quirky about me?” and “ how can I transform and heal my inner critic?”
