To my chagrin, I purposefully boycotted Middleton Farms with my two little ones, last fall. Everyone talked about how amazing it was! But everyone also talked about how crowded it was. I was worried that it would be overwhelming, and not enjoyable. Not so! Read on to see why and visit this link for more info: Middleton Farms .
Middleton Farms has very strategically planned out their pumpkin patch to include activities for a variety of ages in close proximity. There is a gigantic corn pit next to the straw bale mountain. Cornhole is placed near to Tic-Tac-Toe, there are giant bubble wands next to the duck races and giant gunnysack slides, a kids corn maze next to the giant Mario maze. Oh, and the cutest baby changing station next to the amazing ropes/obstacle course, that is a beautiful attraction in itself and definitely unlike anything else in the Tri-Cities.
Another thing that is really nice, is Middleton Farms keeps the Halloween out of the fall festival. That means there are no scary creatures/paintings/skeletons or anything of any kind that is going to terrify your child. Instead large white signs clearly indicate where each activity is. Kind and helpful employees are posted generously throughout the entire farm to provide any type of assistance. And beautiful tall zinnias and sunflowers line the paths the tractor wagon rides pass. We attended on Saturday, most likely the busiest day, and did not wait in line for anything except for a giant tube slide ride.
Safety is important for them. The employee helping with the large jumping pillows was sure to go over all the safety details before our kids were allowed to jump and he made sure to tell them to take off their hats. The farm is designed with a wide open format, allowing for easy attention on kids. And even the hay ride is designed with high sides on the trailers and with plenty of room for mom and/or dad to ride along with the little ones.
On that note, for older kids the potato blasters in Adventureland are sure to be a hit. My husband and his friend really enjoyed those! But, bring your own ear covers - they only had two for all of the stations. My son much preferred the soft ball toss and pumpkin bowling and could have stayed happily with those activities all day.
If you are thinking about getting a season pass, go for it! Like I said, just a few of the activities will entertain you and your children for hours and there are so many to choose from! Not to mention fireworks on the weekends, free pumpkins on Thursdays, and other occasional special exhibits.
Lastly, bring water! No other food or drink is allowed in, but water will get you through several hours of fun in the sun!
