National Farmers Day: Highlighting Farmer Hatch

92 year old Paul Hatch has been running the Hatch Patch for 40+ years

By Faith Spencer October 12, 2023

Today is National Farmer's Day and I wanted to take a moment and highlight one of the key Tri-Cities farmers.

Farmer Hatch doesn't let his age keep him from taking care of his farm and sharing it with visitors. We have visited a few times as a family and he is always out greeting and helping in the ready-picked produce stand front of his home or he has taken us along personally on his golf cart to wherever we can find the ripe fruit to be harvested. It is such a beautiful farm and so peaceful. Don't worry about the harvest running out before you get there! Paul has taken care of this farm for 40+ years and has large beautiful trees and plants that produce abundantly.

I encourage you to take the scenic route out to the Hatch Patch, have a nice chat with Farmer Hatch, and get your hands "dirty", so to speak, harvesting the rich produce that has grown from Washington soil and been labored over and carefully tended for decades.

Currently, asian pears, sugardot sweet corn, several varieties of apples and applesauce bags, red peppers and pumpkins are available for purchase or U-pick. But they offer so much more at different times of year, including plums, peaches, tomatoes, potatoes, peas, asparagus, butternut squash, and cherries.
