My kids have been learning the value of money!
It all started when my little ones started coming to wake me and my husband up too early every morning. We decided we could start to motivate them by offering a nickel for every morning they waited for a certain time on their wake-up clock to come out of their bedroom. They are also offered a nickel to do extra special jobs such as bringing in the groceries for me on their own, or cleaning out the junk in our family car. They also lose nickels if I find markers without lids on them, or books left outside.
My daughter decided that she wanted to earn even more extra money by preparing a show! 
She practiced piano and dance of her own volition almost every day of one month, then made handmade tickets for family members, and popped popcorn for the audience members. She earned some quarters and even a couple dollar bills and was overjoyed!
They both decided to buy a couple things, such as cake-flavored goldfish, jelly beans, and my daughter even bought a pair of fancy shoes at a local consignment shop. But we also talked about the importance of saving and found out that STCU has some awesome perks for kids!
STCU Kids Club is free to join! All that is required is to set up a savings account for your child.
Your child will receive a punch card that is labeled as Life Money. Every time that your child deposits $1 or more at any STCU location they will receive a punch. After three, six, and ten punches, they get to pick a prize. My son brought home a toy car, and my daughter picked a bouncy ball and they both chose stickers!
On the last business day of every month kids will receive two punches and likely some cookies!
One other perk is the Fill 'er Up reward program for any youth. Simply set up a First5 Savings Account and fill out the short enrollment form (You can do this at the same time as getting signed up for the Kids Club!). Every month, STCU randomly draws a Fill 'er Up winner, any youth that is regularly making deposits in their savings account. They will get their account filled up to $500! For example, if your child has $30 in their account, STCU will fill it up by $470!
